Cleaning the washer & dryer

Steps

   Wipe the door seal or gasket first: pull the folds back and wipe out the trapped water, hair and grime with all-purpose cleaner and a cloth.

   Pull out the detergent drawer, wash it in warm soapy water, scrub the compartments with a cleaning toothbrush, dry and refit.

   Run an empty hot cycle with vinegar or a machine cleaner to clear odour and residue.

   Wipe the drum, the door glass and the outside panel, and buff the front dry.

   Dryer: empty and wash the lint filter, then vacuum the lint housing with the crevice tool.

   Wipe the dryer drum with a damp cloth and check the vent outside is not blocked.

Leave the washer door open between loads. A closed damp drum is what makes the machine smell.
